This morning Larry O’Connor’s Facebook post reminded all of us that it was 4 years ago today that Andrew Breitbart passed. Although I’d never met him, his influence on me was significant and I truly mourned his passing:
Today is the day, four years ago, that we lost Andrew Breitbart suddenly and without notice. We generally acknowledge his passing on March 1st, but it did indeed happen on the evening of leap year, Feb 29th.
I will always remember my friend as the loving, generous and vivacious person he was. He had faith in so many of us and supported so many of our fledgling careers. Even those who disagreed with him and vehemently opposed him respected his loyalty, his energy and effectiveness.
I miss him every day and our lives are woefully deficient without his presence.
I now regret not making this the VERY FIRST topic of the day. As you can hear, I got quite emotional. Andrew was a GIANT.

My HausGuest was another hero of mine, Derek Hunter. (And speaking of Larry O’Connor, Derek’s wife produces both of Larry’s D.C.-based radio shows.) We talked about Melissa Harris Perry’s (sad) firing from MSNBC and the Presidential campaign.
Follow Derek on Twitter. Right now.
- Chris Rock’s #OscarsSoWhite opening was pretty funny
- Of the major movies up for Academy Awards, I only saw “The Martian” (loved it) and “Inside Out” (didn’t really like it)
- Does Donald Trump have a KKK and David Duke problem?
- Hillary’s South Carolina win was SO big (especially among blacks) that she still would have won without a SINGLE white vote
- Super-Tuesday is going to are a BIG DEAL
