3.17.16 – Open Line Friday, ‘Ask the Counselor’ on the SCOTUS, and My Mom

Interesting experiment today: a show directed by the LISTENERS. Via the show’s chat room and incoming phone calls, it was a smashing success!

Listen to the show here:

My regular fortnightly “Ask the Counselor” segment with Dan Chambers focused primarily on the Supreme Court. Dan I discussed the “inform and consent” function of the Senate and the politics involved in openly denying any hearings over the President’s nominee. Then we discussed Merrick Garland himself.

Callers contributing to the show today were Maryann Iaria and Sam Whitfield. Diane Strain and Rudy Zamora weighed in via the chatroom. The highlight, of course, of the listener involvement was my mom, who was brilliant and wonderful (as per expected).

I began the show talking about these:

  1. Season 4 of “The Americans” on FX began on Thursday nightTHE AMERICANS - SEASON 4 - KEY ARTPhoto Cr: James Minchin
  2. I’m eagerly anticipating seeing “Remember,” the story of a 90-something year old Auschwitz survivor who goes on a quest to take out the Nazi guard who killed his family. I didn’t get to much of a discussion of this, as I received Maryann’s great call. Here’s the trailer:
