I ALWAYS like to end the broadcast week with a terrific bang and today’s show was plenty loud – listen to it here:
College Planning America – Dave Coen
Dave and I discussed the IRS’s 529 plans for college savings – they aren’t necessarily the best way for all parents hoping to accumulate sufficient funds for college. They also have some significant weaknesses that one MUST be aware of before setting them up.
HausGuest – Debra Saunders
Today was Debra’s first return visit to the show and we had two EXTREMELY provocative and interesting topics to talk about. Before that, however, we did talk a little about the headline pic for her Twitter bio – I wanted to make sure she wasn’t writing from a dungeon or sub-cellar in the city by the bay:
She isn’t. It was a pic taken during a voiceover she was doing in a sound studio.
First of all, we discussed this crazy-California story:
That’s right: the California Assembly just approved a bill that would allow convicted felons to vote from jail. Given that the state’s Senate and governor are just as progressive/leftist/insane as the Assembly, it’s almost a certainty that this will become state law.
Secondly, we discussed an article Debra wrote after Bernie Sanders visited San Francisco (and had a meeting with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board):
For a man with long-held passionate ideas, he is surprisingly and woefully short on specifics.
As you’ll hear, Debra was the PERFECT HausGuest and the segment was fantastic.
- May’s job numbers were DISMAL. Only 38,000 jobs added and 450,000+ left the workforce nationwide
- More companies are automating their processes in the face of increased regulations and minimum wage hikes
- The Administration is rolling out “suggested” salt levels for hundreds of different types of food
Thank you for reading and listening!
