I will be celebrating #IPAday with one of these:
After getting the beer thing out of the way, today’s show was GREAT, in overwhelmingly large part due to today’s HausGuest Dr. Zuhdi Jasser. Here’s the show:
HausGuest – Dr. Zuhdi Jasser
This was a GREAT and very memorable segment. If you are unfamiliar with Dr. Jasser, his is an urgently needed voice.
A first-generation Muslim American , whose parents fled an horrific regime in Syria in the 1960s, he heads the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. He served for 11 years as a Doctor in the U.S. Navy and is now in private practice in Arizona.
Here is a portion of AIFD‘s description from their “About Us” page:
The American Islamic Forum for Democracy’s (AIFD) mission is to advocate for the preservation of the founding principles of the United States Constitution, liberty and freedom, through the separation of mosque and state.
AIFD is the most prominent American Muslim organization directly confronting the ideologies of political Islam and openly countering the common belief that the Muslim faith is inextricably rooted to the concept of the Islamic State (Islamism). Founded by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, AIFD looks to build the future of Islam through the concepts of liberty and freedom.
During our conversation, he laid out his criticisms of both Trump and Clinton’s approach to political Islamism and suggested his own solution. The key point: an understanding of the importance of secular democracy in fostering religious freedom and liberty.
A passionate defender of the American Constitution, his voice urging reform within Islam is a critically important one.
- The Libertarian Party townhall on CNN occurred last night and I watched it with GREAT interest. Here’s a summary video:
- Reason Magazine identified Johnson’s response to a Sanders supporter’s question as the best of the night. He made an important distinction between capitalism and cronyism, as well as the impossibility of the government imposing equality of result (in contrast to the importance of equality of opportunity.
- Here’s the most recent national polling:
- The Justice Department was NOT in favor of the Administration’s sending to Iran a crate of $400 million in cash.
