Feel Free to Share These 8 Charts When Your Progressive Friends Celebrate Obama’s Speech

  • This was a paragraph from the President’s speech:

“Let me start with the economy, and a basic fact: the United States of America, right now, has the strongest, most durable economy in the world. We’re in the middle of the longest streak of private-sector job creation in history. More than 14 million new jobs; the strongest two years of job growth since the ‘90s; an unemployment rate cut in half. Our auto industry just had its best year ever. Manufacturing has created nearly 900,000 new jobs in the past six years. And we’ve done all this while cutting our deficits by almost three-quarters.”

  • You’ll likely have friends celebrating these cherry-picked facts
  • Help them out by showing them these:

Health insurance costs are UP:20150916_obo-Copy-42 Median household income is DOWN:real-median-household-income Social spending is UP:social-spending Food stamp use is UP:food-stamps Student loans and consumer credit are UP:student-loans-and-credit Fewer people are working:lfpr Federal Debt as a percentage of GDP is UP:debt Federal Debt is UP:total-public-debt

In other words, he had to be VERY careful in picking out the things to be self-congratulatory about. And work hard to avoid mentioning the things that have gone to total crap.
