Saving and planning for the financial impact of college is far more complicated than putting money in a savings account. Schools each have their own criterion for establishing financial aid programs, as does the Federal government. On top of that, the tax code has its own incentives as well, which might NOT be the optimal decision-making matrix if one’s choice of school’s has differing standards.

The bottom line: professional help may be required in order to negotiate through this morass.
